A very big Thank you to everyone who has sent well wishes. Grief is a strange emotion. One minute Hubby and I are laughing, having fun, then poof, a minute later a calm comes over us and we’ll be sad. Very sad.

K is still handling it well though. Jan left a comment that perhaps she is internalizing MIL’s passing in some way - or maybe it is affecting her– but I’m not seeing signs of it yet. I'll keep watching for signs that she is. The other day I said I missed Grandma, and K asked,

Why did she go live with the angles mom?

I wish I had the answer. It was just her time.

Back in August I wrote how excited we were to have MIL come live up in our town so we could visit and be family. I’m happy that for just a few short months we did get together and that K was able to know her grandmother a bit.

I’m sad that all the plans we made for things to do together didn’t come through.

And I’m angry that she went so quickly. And I’m happy and relived that she went so quickly.

Normal grief reactions.

So now I try to get back to blogging – pick up my normal life after a month of craziness. Family, Christmas, Hospitals, Death.

Who could predict?

It has been a very strange year so far. My friend has breast cancer. This is the third very close friend of mine to have breast cancer. Luckily they have all survived it with minimal long term effect (?!) but it is scary.

My sister has had to move because of a flood in her house – insurance should cover it though - we’re hoping.

My parents had a smoke fire in their home – with quite a bit of damage – and they were visiting me at the time.

What a year. I hope it only gets better from here on out.
