Tomorrow I will go see the rotating traveling exhibit,
The Heart Gallery. It is in Colorado Springs until the end of the month. The Heart Gallery is a show of photographic works of art, taken of foster children who are legally free to be adopted.
The children are asked by their caseworker if they would like to be part of an adoption photographic exhibit and the choice is totally theirs. Typically the children range in age from two years old through teenagers and can include sibling groups.
I first heard of the Heart Gallery a several years ago after I saw a child portrayed by a stunning photograph. I fell in love with the child, but hadn't started my adoption path quite yet. You know, maybe it was the photo that got me thinking about adoption.
The Heart Gallery was founded by the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department in 2001. One woman, Diane Granito, had a vision of showing these adoptable kids as they really are. In play, with siblings, outside, or wherever they are most comfortable.

These wonderful photos show the children's amazing spirits and have helped many find permanent, forever homes.
I hope to bring you ongoing news about where the Heart Galleries are traveling to, and tomorrow I'll update you on my visit and more history about this great creative adoption resource.
