Everyone hold your breath –
today is our home study – sort of.
Instead of our home study supervisor coming to our home though, we are going to her for the first meeting. She’ll ask us lots of nosy questions about our parenting, our childhoods, our relationship with each other. If we meet her approval, she’ll come to visit our home sometime next week.
I’m glad this first visit isn’t at home. My family just left and although my mom cleaned and cleaned to leave it nice for me, it isn’t up to home study standards yet – perfectly child proofed and all.
Plus, since I’ve got Christmas decorations up, it isn’t a true picture of what the house looks like in a normal chaotic week.
I’ve listed before what might be covered in our home study – and we expect pretty much the same questions, with one big difference.

This time we have a child.
Four years ago in our home study we had to take a family photo, which I still have. A nice snapshot of Hubby and I standing in front of our fireplace.
This time our family photo included K. This time our questions will be including her in the equation. How will she do with a sibling? How will we parent two children instead of one?
I imagine all the other questions about what
type of children we'll take and what ages will also be part of the process.
This agency combines the adoption home study with the foster care home study, so it won’t be two separate interviews. In our last process we had a home study for foster care, and then another, specific home study when it was time to adopt K.
Ok, off we go, again.
Wish me luck.
