My little RADish (I call ber Sassy here) reproduced right after high school - part carelessness and part not wanting to face growing up. Five years later, I am raising my grandson and she is living the "life of Amy" -- no home, no job, no real relationships, no realistic goals, and is always either on probation or ducking a warrant! My grandson is the light of my life and while I cannot wish he had never been born, I wish he could have had a life with responsible adult parents and I could have been "Grandma".

In an addendum to my post:

I received an e-mail this morning saying that in addition to the things I knew about that landed him in jail, he threatened to bring a weapon to school to retrieve the CD player that the school took from him.

I sincerely hope that my RADish never reproduces....

As to his becomming more violent someday, that is a possibility, as he has not truly dealt with all of the issues affecting him, and has merely learned how to suppress them until he needs those skills to help him manipulate, control, charm or whatever tool he needs to get his way.

You know Kelly, I heard this wonderful radio program about a lady who's son (model son, btw) had shot the birthfather of his girlfriend's kids while in a custody battle.
This was a good child (young man) by all means. He is in prison for life. His mother wrote a book: New kind of normal (I think it's called).
So yes, those that shoot others also have parents and sometimes very dedicated invested parents.
Prayers to them all.
