Rachel Rays fudgeIt's Thanksgiving and I'm thankful I'm not cooking.

No smell of pumpkin pie or turkey in my home this morning. Just fresh ground coffee and the sound of me typing away on the keyboard.

Hubby and K are watching the Macy parade on TV and its quiet.

In a few hours, we leave for MIL's house. We'll eat in the dining room at the Independent Living facility. We are eating early so the dining room can close and the staff can all go home and have their own Thanksgiving - thats a good system!

Later we go to friends for dessert.

I'm making Rachael Rays 30 minute fudge to take and I'll try not to eat too much of it.

It'll be a very low key restful day with Hubby home. I like that.

Christmas will be another matter. My family is coming from places all around the country and we'll be cooking for a week straight. I'm looking forward to the noise and commotion and the smells and the food.

I'm thankful they are coming. Only a month away.

This morning K woke up and said, What is that noise?

Daddy's home!

I suggested she call him to come get her out of bed. Her reply:

....My voice hasn't woken up yet. Wait a minute.

She proceeded to stretch and cough and giggle a bit a bit and then shouted.

Daddy!

She then hid under the covers so he could find her and tickle her and they'd laugh together on this unusual morning he's home.

It's a joy to watch.

Yes, I'm thankful.

Next week K will be three. It goes so fast. I'm so happy I've gotten a chance to stay at home with her and watch her grow.

I'm thankful.

We have tomorrow together as a family as well. But we won't be shopping, we'll be spending the day together as a family.

What a great life.

Happy Thanksgiving every one!

Okay, you've got me now - I want some of RR's fudge! Or, maybe I will make some of my own - the hard way - haven't made any in ages.

Happy Thanksgiving, Michelle!
