So yesterday I wrote about Drama Queens in my blog, but actually I call K a princess – a Queen in training. It goes like this:

K – I’m a princess

Me – Yes you are honey, and who is the Queen?

K – You are!

Me – and when will you be a Queen?

K – When I’m big!

I love this concept. It allows K to be special but she’s a queen in training! She knows I’m still in control.

The book, So You Want to Be a Princess available from attachment.org, explores this concept nicely. Here is the review:

This clever children's book by Deborah Hage, MSW is a fun way to help a royal highness abdicate the throne to the real queen, her MOM! When mom steps up to the thrown a daughter can become a real princess. Well worth the $ and the time shared reading together. Terrific for princesses age 2-22 and up. I loved it! Bonnie Wakeman's art is a crack-up.

A quick search on adoptionshop.com under Princess books, brought me this cute poster:

I'm past the point of being
A demanding and self-absorbed princess.
I've given up the persona of the bossy queen.
Shunning all that silly sovereign hoopla
I've elected myself to the loftiest status of all.
I am, truly, a goddess.

(Besides, who wants to be queen
when you can be a goddess?)

Maybe I'll order it (HERE). I love the picture.

And yet another poster from adoptionshop when I decide she is ready to be Queen:

There is a little bit of princess in us all.
Sometimes that’s a good thing…
Sometimes not!
(But it’s a whole lot of fun!)
There are days
When you don’t want to be
Someone’s honey or love…
You want to be their Royal Highness!!
So put on your crown
And act the part, Your Majesty.
Your subjects await you.
