I’d like to think I was really mad, but actually the timing is so un-perfect it can only be funny.
I’ve got a friend coming over to take formal Christmas photos in front of the fire in a couple of days.
It is the one present my mom really wants for Christmas every year, and is almost impossible to get.
Sometimes the logistics of us all getting together don’t work out, other years the camera didn’t focus or the blizzard hits the day we are supposed to go out to the portrait studio.
This year I planned and schemed, (stop reading now mum) and talked with my sister so they’d bring dressy ‘photo’ clothes, and got our friend to carve out time on Christmas Eve – a perfect photo shoot.
So what’s the problem?
One of us is having a bad hair day.
A very bad hair day.
My darling sweet innocent perfect daughter cut off her hair in one fell swoop as I was yelling…NOOOOO.

It was one of those slow motion moments where you can see yourself reaching out for the scissors and K is laughing and pulling her hair and I am reaching and

Six inches of soft curls lay on the floor.
They happened to come right off the top of her head, up on the top so she has a crew cut, flat head now and curls over her ears.
I wanted to be mad but all I could do was laugh.
Others have experienced the same scissor mania of course.
I sent the photo out to the family to warn them along with platidues that every toddler does this.
Of course they do.
Our neighbor and hairdresser, told us how she gets in about one upset mom every week with a funny self made hairdo. Some she just can’t fix.
K’s hair had finally reached her ears after three years. It just doesn’t grow fast, and any growth would curl up against her head. Cute, but slow to come.
I guess it’ll be a hat year for her.
