Lest you think I am a Willie Nelson fan, rest assured I am not, nor will I break out in song.

Hannah and I are headed off this afternoon for a week long trip to Kansas. Why would anyone want to go to Kansas you ask? Well, we will be visiting my friend, Nancy, the Reactive Attachment Disorder blogger. She’s been in Kansas for 18 months now, and I have yet to visit.

The initial plan for this trip was to provide some respite for a family, but they have made the decision to disrupt, so instead we will be going for some friend time.

While we are there I know we will be working on the ATN conference, so please stay tuned for both of our blogs for further updates. I promise, this is a conference you don’t want to miss.

I know Hannah will be in love with Nancy’s horses, and will probably want to do a little riding. I don’t know if she’ll be brave enough to ask Nancy about that.

We will also be making a brief stop to visit my friend Trina and her semi-new baby, and for Hannah to spend some time with her first adoptive family. It will be great to see everyone again.

I'm hoping to come up with some good car games for the 10 hour trip. One suggestion that I read will be instituted right away. Hand the child a roll of quarters (or whatever coin you choose) and every time they ask some variation of "Are we there yet?" they lose a coin. Any money left at the end, they can use to spend on souvenirs.

Most importantly, I won’t be spending a vacation where I have to watch everything I say or do. Everyone that will be involved with this trip is used to attachment and therapeutic parenting. Most everyone knows a fairly good background on Hannah, since we were all involved with her first adoptive family in various ways. If I miss something, someone else will pick it up right away. It is an awesome way to vacation.

I am taking my computer with me, so keep checking the blogs. I know that being at Nancy’s house will provide me with plenty of material. I am also hoping to get to meet some online friends while I’m there. That’s always fodder for blog material.
