Since well over 50 percent of all children are now raised in single parent families, this proposed law appears to limit adoption for children without a family by applying standards that the majority of families cannot live up to. Single parent families who love the child are surely better than no family. I should mention that I am in the process of adopting a young man, in his teens who has a rare bleeding disorder and has spent about 6 years of his life in foster care. I love him and desire to establish a mother/child relationship with him. So, if this law passes before I can adopt him, what will become of a teenage boy with a rare bleeding disorder? Most families want healthy young children, at least under 6 years of age. I work for DHS and met this wonderful young fellow through my employment. I am indeed blessed to know him and pray that this law does not prevent this adoption.

I'm from Arkansas and I agree with you.....except that I live here and no the stigmatism placed upon a child being raised in a homosexual home. It is definitely a worse stigma than that placed on a child in foster care for sure.

I also agree that single people should be allowed to foster and foster/adopt and that this was the 'peoples' way and banning homosexual couples without actually stating it.

Of the 85,000 signatures one has to wonder how many actual foster, donate to the system, etc. Should they really have a say in how a system is run if they plan to be no part of it??

Sadly, I have lived here all but 7 years of my 37 and I know the mind set. This law will pass.
