So, a long while back
I posted this blog about vegetarians not able

to foster adopt because of their eating habits. I got a couple of comments and a few emailed comments about it, - guess it hit a nerve with some folks.
In the first post, I quoted from the article:
Although they readily agreed to allow their foster child to eat meat outside the home, at school and at restaurants, this couple was denied their application to become foster and/or foster adopt parents because of their personal choice around diet.
Mrs. Saunders, perspective foster mom said this:
"...By allowing them to eat meat at school and when they go to friends and if we went out to a restaurant, we don't mind paying for them to have meat. I really didn't understand that it was as big an issue as they were making it."
This sounded totally reasonable to me. After all, would you not allow an adoption if the couple didn’t serve peanuts or jello in the home? This seemed like such a non-issue since the couple WOULD allow the child to eat meat outside the home.
And what does meat have to do with anything anyway. Isn't a foster child usually ABUSED AND NEGLECTED? Shouldn't this child be rushed quickly to the nearest family that will love and care for him? Oh please...
Well, here’s the latest posted on the
BBC News Website:
But the county council has now said its guidelines are being revised and the Saunders' application reconsidered.
Well I should hope so!
And what has happened to the ten year old boy they had been hoping to adopt?
Good question. I wish I knew.
