Different communities sponsor events on days other than November 17. You can attend one of these events.
The events vary from state to state and even city to city. Some of the events are:
Galveston, Texas – There will be a celebration at the beautiful Moody Gardens.
Norwich, Connecticut – There will be a charity concert to benefit adoption with a member of the New York Philharmonic orchestra performing.
Placerville, California – There will be a reception in the lobby of the courthouse for adoptive families. They will have gift baskets for the families and all the children will receive teddy bears, and the website says there is a possibility the judge will make balloon animals for the kids.
Vancouver, Washington – If you’re near Vancouver, head out to hear actor Kirk Cameron talk about his experiences as an adoptive father as well as live music.
Lake Mills and Sun Prairie, Wisconsin – A full day event is planned beginning with a church service. A nationally recognized bishop who is also an adoptive father will deliver the service. There will then be an adoption panel and adoption fair, followed by a potluck dinner.
The events vary in date, festivities, and who is invited. You may read about events for your state by going to this website.
There is still time to host or plan an event. This website will give you ideas for an event. It may be something as simple as a press conference to give the media information on waiting children.
The website is full of resources such as posters you can print, phone scripts to get donations, Power Point presentations, governmental proclamations, and adoption statistics that you can use. You can submit your event to their website to gain national exposure.
Whether you decide to plan an event, or simply attend, take some time to enjoy what this month is about; kids becoming a part of a forever family.

This is also the month that our two eldest children arrived in our home – right before Thanksgiving. In the past, we have had dinner at Wendy’s, for several reasons.
