Here's a brief synopsis of what I think are the top blog posts from the fost-adopt blog in 2006.

I've got the post overview on how to get around my blog, where to find stuff and when I write:

I usually write a post in the not to early morning (Yawn) around 7:30 AM my time (Colorado) and another in early afternoon. Occasionally I’ll miss one of the afternoons and will post on the weekends. So, even if you are one of those get up at 5:00 AM to get started on the day people, you should have something to read. (and I hate you)

Notice on the right you’ll find lots of categories of subjects I’ve written about – enchanting categories such as Getting Started – which covers my own fingerprinting story and what to expect from your Home Study,as well as how you might get started on your journey.

I linked to some important and heartbreaking news in 2006.

This story of the mom who tried to un-do the adoption of her teenage son should be studied and discussed amongst adoption professionals. Her story was circulating around the internet because the signs of a troubled teen had been there a long time.

No one can be sure what exactly this mom knew or didn’t know before she adopted.

We also know that she feels pretty overwhelmed and over her head at this point.

We need more post adoption services to help evaluate and support children and moms like this.

The story out of Belarus was important - it pretty much shut down all the Italian adoptions and the foster program allowing Belarus children to visit Italy over Christmas. I feel bad for the children.

The Belarusian Government has refused to allow 2500 children to stay with Italian families after one couple blocked the return of a visiting orphan in September, claiming she had been abused in her Belarusian orphanage.

It seems such a shame that the children are suffering, again and more.

No matter what side you think is correct, it's the children who won't get to spend Christmas with a family - but rather will have Christmas in an orphanage.
