Milwaukee Admirals

We are going to the Milwaukee Admirals game on Sunday night. We were going to go on Friday night, but a wonderful March snow storm made the roads unsafe to travel.

Friday night’s game was for a wonderful cause. $2 of each ticket price was going to Adoption Resources of Wisconsin. I have worked with ARW for several years. They have referred families to me to help find services, hook them up with a support system, or even find respite care. This is an organization that is near and dear to my heart, so the opportunity to help them was something we eagerly wanted to do, plus we like hockey.

This Sunday’s game will have money going to the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer (MACC) Fund. This game can benefit foster and adopted children in two different ways. The upper level tickets are only $3 each. That is affordable for just about any family, and it was a very large motivating factor for our decision to ago (along with my husband’s 41st birthday that day.)

The other factor is that the money from the upper level seats is going to the MACC fund, along with $2 from all the other seats. Foster and adopted children can potentially benefit from this fund. Medically ill and fragile children are available for adoption every day, and that medical illness can include cancer.

The Admirals games hold a fondness for me because it was one of the few things my father did with me. I can remember the two of us going to games, and sometimes we went as a family. It didn’t matter to me. The fact that my dad took time out to do this with us is what made it important. Many of our kids feel the same way. Whether it is a foster parent, adoptive parent, mentor or other important person in the child’s life, this can be a great bonding experience and memory builder, along with a way to financially benefit our kids.

If you’re close to Milwaukee, come to the game. I’ll be there cheering on the Milwaukee Admirals.
