While my husband and I were driving back from Sammy’s meeting yesterday we heard a news story which has my blood boiling and at the same time scratching my head.
Unfortunately,
this story comes out of Wisconsin. In Hudson, WI a man is awaiting charges for leaving his eighteen month old son in the family van while the father was inside….. get this….. a strip club. It gets better from there. He was in the club for over three hours. In case that isn’t bad enough, it was below thirty degrees and the little boy suffered frost bite. And to top off the whole mess, the man was picked up at 1:30 A.M.
The little boy was finally found when another customer walked past the van and heard the little boy crying. The staff of the club traced the license plate number and announced the name of the customer that the van belonged to. When he went out to his van the police were waiting for him.

What bothers me just as much as this is the boy’s mother. According the reports the man told her he was going out for milk, but instead went to the strip club, where he spent more than three hours. I don’t know about the rest of you, but if my husband says he’s going out for milk with our eighteen month old, who at my house would be in bed at 9:00 P.M. when he left, and they’re not back pretty quickly, I’m going to start making some calls. If the calls go unanswered I’m going to go out looking for him, or call the police. If he’s not back at 1:00 A.M. I’m going to be in full panic mode.
After this man was arrested for neglect of a child, his wife went and bailed him out of jail. Sorry, not this mama. You leave my child in a van unattended for three hours in freezing cold weather while you go to a strip club, you will want to stay in jail because I guarantee, you won’t want to deal with me.
According to the news account on the radio, the man is an alcoholic as well, and has been arrested for various other charges.
What complicates matters, as well as making this all the more disgusting is that this is happening across two states. This occurred in Hudson, WI, which is near the Minnesota border. The father of this little boy is from Minnesota. He drove across state lines with his child who he then neglected.
Personally, I hope both states convict this man.
