KidSave is a non profit organization that works with children to get them into permanent loving homes. KidsSave works with international and domestic children including foster children.

From their website:

Help us find a permanent family, or a lasting connection to a grownup, for every child, everywhere. Since 1999, over 1,300 orphan children have visited the U.S. for summer vacations. Over 1,000 have found forever families through Kidsave’s Summer Miracles program.

Host families and mentors are also needed for children in foster care in the U.S. Kidsave is working to find families for children living in foster care who have no adoptive families. Our Weekend Miracles programs are in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles County, CA.

KidSave has set up a model for families and children to interact together to help find the children homes.
Again from their site:

Family Visits Plus Advocacy—Kidsave’s model gives children a short-term visit with a host family in the community. Host families use their circles of friends to help the child meet people who might be possible adoptive families. Media and other communications channels are used to attract attention to these children.

Mentoring—Literature shows that one connected, caring relationship with an adult will dramatically decrease violent crimes, increase school attendance and increase positive social interaction. Kidsave’s model matches children with mentors who serve as friends and supporters.

Family Support—Throughout the adoption and post-adoption process, families and children receive the support of social workers, therapists and other professionals to help them manage the transition for the child.

They have all kinds of fundraisers throughout the country this coming month. You can walk, play golf, or just donate some cash. Of course I’m sure they’d love for you to host a child as well!
