I just read your article of 7/8/07 on "How to Pay Your Adoption Agency". I wish I had read this 16 months ago before handing over $6,000 a small adoption agency in Missouri (Small World). After signing on and being given their paperwork to complete, we found them largely unavailable and much of the information given us about the procedure regarding what they could offer, was untrue. We fired them within 2 months. We persued our money for months with no refund (a few dollars were returned for post-placement but after so many mailings stating our case to their "board" the little bit they sent was a wash. We moved on to another agency with exactly what this article recommends...lttle money up front, and brought home a beautiful infant baby girl 8months later! Great advice!
