Yesterday was Holy Humor Sunday in our church. Is it any coincidence that it fell on my husband’s birthday?
A large part of the message of the sermon was taking care of ourselves through humor. This applies to our parenting as well. When faced with chaos, we need to be able to laugh to keep our sanity. Even with the blogs I write, most of them are about serious issues, and things that most parents don’t have to deal with. We need to laugh. On that note, I’m going to present you with some humor and hopefully add a little laughter and joy to your day.
Q. Did you hear about the mom who mixed up her birth control pills with her anxiety medication?
A. She had sixteen kids but she didn’t care.
You know you’re a parent when…..
• You hear a child say “Mom” or “Dad” and you answer, even though your children aren’t with you.
• You hear a baby crying and you pop a pacifier into your sixteen year old’s mouth.

• You cut up everyone’s food without being asked.
• You never eat sitting down because you are running between the fridge and the table.
• You have a lockbox that contains your favorite food, hidden from your children.
• You know that “mom spit” will fix everything.
• Your purse contains, wipes, diapers, Kleenex, pens, paper, crayons and everything needed to entertain or care for your child, but doesn’t contain money.
• You have a book titled “1001 Ways to Make Peanut Butter Sandwiches”
• Your clothes are purchased not for how stylish they make you look, but how well they hide stains.
• You can spot a restroom in three seconds flat in any building.
• Lifting weights means lifting the baby in and out of the crib.
• You know the nutritional content of every sugary cereal and which ones are “healthier” than others.
• You lapse into statements like “…when I was your age…” and “If all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it?”
• You know that by the time you heard the words “Uh-Oh” it is too late.
I hope I’ve given you a chuckle or two, and please feel free to add your jokes. We can always use a good laugh.
As a final laugh, I am including a link to a video that makes me laugh.
