Live in Texas and want to foster adopt?

There are many waiting children wanting a forever family and you can search by age, gender or special needs to see who is available now. Here’s the link.

The Child Protective Services Division investigates reports of abuse and neglect of children, places them into foster care and then moves them into a permanant home – adoption or family.

Here’s the local website you’ll need to get started.

As with many other states, you have to information gather:

  • First you’ll need to attend an information meeting in your area where you can discuss the scope and requirements of being a foster or adoptive parent.
  • Click Here to Learn More
  • You will get basic information and questions are welcome.
  • Your local DFPS office will furnish you with this information if there are no informational meetings in your area.
  • You do not need an appointment. Find free foster care and adoption information meetings in your Texas area or county. (see link above or below)

For specific information, there are several government web sites that can help, but I found the Adoption Resource Exchange of Texas very helpful. It has all the info you need plus waiting children.

Also a free seminar is coming up:

Learn more about adopting children and foster care at the 2006 Adoption Conference and Professional Seminar from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 2 at the El Paso Community College Administration Services Center, 9050 Viscount, Building A.

Conference promotes foster care, adoptions of abused foster children.

The free conference is to promote foster care and adoptions for children who have been abused and neglected.

El Paso County Attorney Jose Rodriguez, 65th District Court Judge Alfredo Chavez, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and the El Paso C.A.R.E. Coalition will participate in the event.

Family and Protective Services in El Paso has about 110 children, ages 11 months to 17 years, who are ready to be adopted. The event also will feature professional training for people who work with abused children.
