Britney Spears video

I never thought I’d blog about Britney Spears twice in my lifetime, much less twice in less than thirty days, but it’s a hot topic.

In a prior blog, I talked about the abuse allegations against her. With her very public performance, and the things that have been reported from “behind the scenes”, I can’t help but wonder if there will be more allegations coming.

If you haven’t seen or heard this, Britney made her “comeback” in a performance on the MTV video awards a few days ago. It was a horrible performance, and everyone has been quick to criticize her. One person has spoken out in her favor, and that’s singer Kanye West. He has his own agenda, but what he said has a great air of truth to it.

The hip-hop star said: "Man, they were just trying to get ratings, and they knew she wasn't ready and they exploited her."

He added that he thought MTV made a "bad move" by having the troubled pop star open the event in Las Vegas. West said that he felt he should have kicked off the show.

Here is a young woman who is going through a horrible time in her life. The other thing that everyone forgets is that she is a mere 25 years old.She has two children, is in the middle of a custody case, recently divorced, and has essentially grown up in the public eye. That’s a lot for a 25 year old to handle.

What struck me about the video is the look on Britney’s face during her “routine.” You can watch the video here.

When I watched the video, I watched her face. I saw a young woman who is empty. Her eyes have no life to them, and the expressions on her face are pained and forced. I’ve seen that look many times. I see it in the faces of attachment affected kids every day.

This young woman does not have her mother in her life. Family relationships are strained, so she has no one to guide her and help her. Sound familiar?

I hope someone decides to step up and help her. I would hate to see her kids become a part of the system. Her kids can’t learn how to be good parents if she doesn’t set a good example for them and no one is helping her to do that. She’s barely more than a child herself.

Oh jeez-I can't believe I'm about to comment on this...but here it goes...

I agree. She looks very empty, she doesn't care, probably one of her "handlers" suggested that it was a good idea since MTV probably suggested it. (All speculation). And you are right, KanYe had truth behind his own agenda.

And I agree, she probably has her very own set of special attachment issues. She was raised in show business. I dabbled in that world very loosely for a brief time in my life. Long enough to know that ANYONE that is part of it, moms and dads included-get sucked in. Even when you realize it, it's almost too late.

You are right, she needs someone to step up and plenty (I'm sure) have but her wealth and need to "prove" has helped keep everyone at bay.

I feel badly for her. I'm not a fan, but I just wish she'd get it together. For the boys, and for herself.

I don't know. She didn't look empty to me. She looked afraid to be back on stage, but that's all I saw.

She needs to grow up, put her clothes on, and act like a mother.

Does she need help? Likely, but I doubt she'd see it that way.

Dang, she's younger than me. She's a cub...
I hope she can get herself together one day.
