This post is being dripped in, since today I am celebrating my 40th birthday on a camping trip with my church family. I’m excited, but a little bit nervous of what they might have planned for me.
To take a page from my friend, and former blogger, Nancy’s brain, here are 40 things you didn’t know about me before. At least I think you didn’t know them.
I was born six months after my parents got married. I was a healthy “preemie” at 7 lbs.
I was named after my great-grandmother, Florence Kelly, who was adopted.
I am the oldest child, and the only girl.
I am a natural blonde, although my hair has darkened over the years.
I look like a female version of my dad.
My favorite color is pink.
In January 1976, we moved about two miles from our old home and I lived in that home until I moved out on my own.
I was never popular in school.
I attended elementary school at the Catholic school right next to our church.
When I was in elementary school I wanted to become a nun.
When I was 15, I had surgery on my shoulder after dislocating it four times.
When I was 16, I had a snowmobile accident that I never told my parents about, but has left a deep scar on my neck.
My first job was working at my grandfather’s printing company in the factory.
In my Junior year in high school, I was on the Pom Pom squad. (No giggling people.)
Other groups I participated in were Forensics (placed third in state completion), Future Business Leaders of America, Pep Club and the school newspaper.
When I graduated high school, there were eighty-six people in my graduating class.
In college I was a Journalism major.
I was engaged for the first time when I was 19. Yes, I did say the first time.
I dropped out of college after I became engaged. I regret it to this day.
To be continued……..

Pic is adorable and I LOVE the fun facts about you!
Happy 40th Birthday!
Yeah Surrounded, I used to be a cute kid. It all went to heck when I hit my teens.
No insulting yourself…you have lost A LOT of weight in a short time and should be so proud of yourself. Losing any weight from age 30 on is no easy feat!
Isn’t it funny how you seem to have a connection to your namesake person even if you never really met them. The fact that you were named after a great-grandmother who just happened to be adopted and now look at you…..life is full of irony.
