I’d like to think I was really mad, but actually the timing is so un-perfect it can only be funny.
I’ve got a friend coming over to take formal Christmas photos in front of the fire in a couple of days.
It is the one present my mom really wants for Christmas every year, and is almost impossible to get.
Sometimes the logistics of us all getting together don’t work out, other years the camera didn’t focus or the blizzard hits the day we are supposed to go out to the portrait studio.
This year I planned and... more

In my last post I promised an overview of some of the experts opinions of co-sleeping.
Who are the experts? The moms of course.
So here are some views from all sides of the co-sleeping perpective:
From Lauri over on the Adoptive Parenting Blog
A few weeks ago she was fighting a fever, teething and she was fighting her nap. I rocked her and could tell how sleepy she was she just would not sleep. I asked her if she wanted to lie down with me. I was exhausted at this point as well and wanted to nap… I never get to nap. I brought her into my bed we snuggled... more

Co-sleeping is sure a controversial subject. Lots of blog posts here on adoption.com have been written about it, both pros and cons.
Here’s my own list:
Pro:
It was necessary when K was a baby. She wouldn’t sleep at all, was sick a lot, and couldn’t sleep flat for a few months. Laying on my chest we helped her sleep. As a baby when she awoke, she was right there and didn’t have time to scream,... more
K loves the boys. At (almost) three years old, she has like, twenty boy friends and about one girl friend.
I’m always asking; Did you play with Suzie today? What about Sophia or Angela?
Nope Nope Nope, I played with Thomas, Caleb, Stevie.
Ok.
At the gym, I think most of the small kids are boys. I look around when I pick her up and there are about five boys to every girl, so maybe that is why she plays with boys?
At church, there are also lots of boys her age – most of the girls seem to be a bit older.... more
All toddlers love pushing buttons and moving the mice on the computer, and since I often write with K in my lap, it’s inevitable that sometimes she’ll push a button at all the wrong times and cause me to loose my work or reformat my hard drive.
At least she’s never cost me $27,000!
The mom of a three year old boy in England was on the hook for a car her son bought on eBay – just by pushing the pretty BID NOW button on the screen.
Yikes!
The mom was a bit upset when she’d learned from an email that... more
My writing has been a bit slack for a few days. I’ve got so many projects I’m working on right now they all meld together and nothing gets done.
I keep saying I’m going to stay up late and work till midnight - or later in the quiet but it hasn’t happened yet.
K has been going to bed late. I mean really late.
Sometimes I can’t get her down and asleep until after ten and by then I’m laying down next to her, and then next thing you know it is morning!
That would be ok with me if she then slept in until ten and let me get some writing... more

A day or two ago I posted a comment somewhere about never making my darling wonderful sweet innocent little two year old K a separate meal than the one Hubby and I eat.
I went so far as to actually condemn, judge, express disapproval to those who do.
Then guess what?
It’s just like Murphy Law or the Universe giving me a kick in the butt, K wouldn’t eat and demanded a different meal last night.
She screamed and cried and wouldn’t eat the pizza I made, (normally her favorite).
I know she was overtired, and hungry.
The... more
I go back and forth -and back and forth about pre-school for K.
The school I want has about a one year wait anyway, (It is a Montessori Public School), and so she probably won’t get in a till she’s four or maybe the start of the next school year.
And the school charges for pre-school, so I could always start her now, or earlier then next year somewhere else and pay the fees, which I’ll have to pay anyway when she goes next year.
Make sense?
This is the way I see it.
If I put her in pre-school, it would be for me,... more
Every evening I tell K made up stories as she goes to sleep.
Sometimes we talk about things she might do as she gets older; get a tattoo when she’s a 102; or we’ll sing song, be a dentist or a hygienist.
Last night I found myself telling her stories of how our animals came into our lives.
Our cat Willow got her name when she was found under a willow tree in Pagosa Springs Colorado by her First Mom. (birth mom just didn’t seem to be correct here).
Her First Mom, Mommy Sue, nurtured and loved her for a long... more
This is cute and I'm off in Vail presenting, so I needed an easy post for you today.
