I rarely write about the horrific crimes done to children by bio-family before they reach the foster care system.
We all read the paper, or the internet, and have access to these stories if want to be reminded that indeed, parents can be cruel, evil, tortuous human beings.
Sometimes it’s a step parent, foster parent, adoptive parent, who has come in and taken over from the bio-parent - and they become abusive.
I’m mad this morning.
Can you tell?
My in-box is filled with stories of torture.... more
I was one of many people interviewed for this Washington Post article about an Adoptive Foster mom trying to relinquish her teenage foster-adopt son.

Have you been following this case from Italy about the Belarus foster child? The Italian foster parents refused to return the child amidst abuse charges in the Belarus orphanage.
They wanted to adopt, but caused an 'incident' instead.
Now it seems we are getting closer to resolution:
(ANSA) - Minsk, October 2 - An Italian couple who concealed a Belarussian orphan girl in a bid to prevent her being sent back home... more
I want to adopt. I am going through the process to adopt.
But I don't want to adopt a child who already has a loving mom.
I want to adopt a chld who doesn't.
Sometimes our welfare system is screwed up and takes children away from Moms and puts them into foster care. Sometimes they get adopted, sometimes they stay in foster care long term.
Sometimes they should never have been taken.

I couldn’t do it. Have a whole big pile of kids at home that is.
I dream about doing it, something feels so wonderful about a large family, but I know my limitations.
Luckily for us this family below can.
They have grown their family through bio-kids, foster kids and adopted kids, bringing the total (so far) to eleven.
And they brought in six of them all in one fell swoop yesterday when they adopted a sibling group.
A Houston-area couple ends the uncertainty for six children who almost had given up their... more
Foster care sometimes dictates that bio-family gets separated – permanently from each other. If bio family is dangerous, violent or has threatened violent behavior then visitation may be ended and parental rights terminated.
Sometimes because of severe violence or threatening behavior, the children are moved out of state and protective measure are taken to be sure bio-family can never find them again.
If siblings are in different foster homes they may get adopted by different families and never see their brothers and sisters again. Extended family, grandparents,... more
Maybe I’m the last to know, (wouldn’t be the first time) but Bruce is a foster care advocate.
His web site isn’t totally working, and of course there is no way to reach him, but the important pages come up on a browser just fine.
You can’t read his biography, or what movies he’s been in, (go here instead), but you can read all about his work with ... more
Sad news out of the UK for foster children this morning:
The shameful betrayal of more than 60,000 children caught in the state care system is exposed today in a damning new report.
It shows that just a quarter of children in care manage to leave school with as much as a single qualification.
And those who are brought up by the state have no more than a 100 to one chance of going to university.
Instead of education, the report found a care home system where the rule is that "the boys do crime, the girls do sex."
The report by leading writer Harriet Sergeant, serialised in the Daily Mail today, points to a system in which half of the 6,000... more
A couple of days ago I posted a story of a foster couple in Italy who were refusing to send back their foster daughter to Belarus because of abuse they believe happened to her in the orphanage.
The foster couple wants to adopt the girl, but I don't know if they tried to adopt before this episode. The girl may not be available for adoption.
The story is causing... more
This just caught my attention today.
A foster mom is trying to protect her little girl from abuse.
She refused to sent the child home. (To an orphanage).
It turns into an international incident.
