K loves the boys. At (almost) three years old, she has like, twenty boy friends and about one girl friend.

I’m always asking; Did you play with Suzie today? What about Sophia or Angela?

Nope Nope Nope, I played with Thomas, Caleb, Stevie.

Ok.

At the gym, I think most of the small kids are boys. I look around when I pick her up and there are about five boys to every girl, so maybe that is why she plays with boys?

At church, there are also lots of boys her age – most of the girls seem to be a bit older.... more

Adoption day for K I’ve been loving this Thankful Series some other bloggers have been doing for the month of November and I wonder if it is too late for me to jump on the bandwagon.

My blogging has been spotty for a week or so because of my mom visiting. I’ve got so many things to write about... more

Peas to hurt the swollen cheekK woke up this morning and ran from room to room.

Where’s Granny?

She’s gone honey. She went back home on a plane in the middle of the night.

K knew she’d be gone – she even said goodbye last night, but in her little - almost three year old brain, she still went looking in every room, calling Granny Granny, hoping it would be a game and Granny would pop out from behind a door.

They had a great visit and my mom was a great sport. She climbed all over the floor, picked up K despite having... more

It has been a wild and crazy weekend. Just when I think that having family around, (my Mom) will allow me to spend more time to myself writing, thinking, walking, the opposite happens and we are busier than ever!

When Hubby goes off to work in a normal week, K and I have a routine. I get up early and she sleeps for a while. After she wakes up, she’ll eat her cereal (or Marmite sandwich), and watch TV for a while so I can write. I can usually get enough writing done for the morning blog post before the day must progress to something fun.

With... more

My mom flies in tonight for a week.

There was a time in the past when she’d fly in to see me and we’d run around and do errands and have fun and have mommy daughter bonding time.

But she isn’t coming to see me this time.

She coming for Granddaughter - Granny bonding time and K is so excited!

Every day for a week K has asked if we can go to the airport to pick up Granny. Every morning she wakes up, is Granny coming today?

The day has finally come. Her plane doesn’t get in until really late at night, but... more

It is craziness what lengths moms will do to get their child in a good school.

I got up at six AM this morning, EARLY for me, dressed and got K up and dressed her while she cried and wined. She kept saying I want to go home mom, let me sleep, and I felt so bad for her. Really I did.

We got in the car, paperwork in hand, and I drove like a madwoman twenty two minutes to the public Montessori school parking lot and waiting in line with ten other hopeful moms and dads.

Candy corn for halloweenIt is Halloween and we’ve got a big day planned. The routine will be about the same for a Tuesday, but K will be in her Lions costume all day.

She’s been practicing her growl and tells me everyone will be scared.

Last year she didn't quite 'get' Halloween, - this year she's all over it. At almost three, she loves to be 'scared' at the other costumes and props in the stores - as long as I'm close by to protect her!

I belong to a small church that promotes critical thinking and spiritual journey over dogma. It... more

It's time! We are preparing for our first home study visit to happen in a few weeks.

Last year our home was very child proofed, this year, a bit less. K does very well staying out of things she isn’t supposed to be in, drawers and all that, so we’ve gotten a bit lax.

But our first home study visit is in three weeks so I’ve started preparing.

Cleaning supplies and food supplies must be far apart from each other – not even on different shelves in the same storage area, but in different storage areas so a child won’t get confused as to what is food and what... more

The blizzard and K's snow angel

K making snow angelsK and I went out for a quick walk in the blizzard today. If you haven’t heard Colorado is having the most intense snow storm that we’ve had in nine years. Extra Macho Hubby, went to work early this morning – at five – to beat the storm. He pretty much made it all the way to work, (about twenty miles) before the roads became icy and trechorous. Of course he is almost the only one at work so he’s putting out lots of ‘fires’ and keeping the place running. I expect he’ll stay at work for most of the evening until the storm passes.

Fine... more
