I received this CD of adoption themed songs. It is certainly a Christian CD. Each of the artists that recorded the songs for this CD are Christian musicians as their profession, and the lyrics portray that as well. Whether you enjoy Christian music or not, the lyrics are beautiful, and convey the emotions of so many adoptive parents.
I was excited to hear it because the first song is by Steven Curtis Chapman. If you listen to contemporary Christian music at all, you have heard of him. The Chapman’s are also... more

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ve probably guessed that I like country music. Well, I heard a song yesterday as I was driving and I think it’s pretty good.
There was a thread on Special Needs Adoption forum of Adoption.com asking what song you felt described our kids. There were all kinds of answers, but I think this new song by Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson pretty much sums it up.
It’s called “Because of You” and here is the chorus:

As I was dropping Hannah off at pre-school, I heard this song. I had heard it before, but for some reason I had a light bulb moment this morning. Is this a song about adoption?

Julie blogged about a great bumper sticker that she saw “Been there, still there.” I want one of those!

Her blog reminded me of a song, which I think many of us can relate to. Whenever it comes on the radio, I crank it, and sing right along. Here it is.
Artist/Band: Atkins Rodney Lyrics for Song: If You're Going Through Hell Lyrics for Album: If You're Going Through Hell
Well you know those times When you feel like there's a sign there on... more
In a previous post, I wrote about a song that is on the radio now. John Michael Montgomery had a new song come out a year or two after we adopted Sammy. When he heard it, he said he liked it because it reminded him of his life now. His parents were not killed, but he was able to look past that part of the song, and see how the changes and the new home mirrored his.

According to urban legend, this is a true story, but the song's writers say there is no truth... more
On the way home from running errands today, I heard a very powerful song on the radio, and I had to share it.

The song is Alyssa Lies by Jason Michael Carroll. I’ll put the lyrics at the end of this blog, but here is a little background. A little girl makes a friend on the playground, and the friend’s name is Alyssa. The friend goes home and tells her dad about Alyssa. She says that Alyssa lies, and tries to hide the bruises. Dad hears his daughter playing and is going to intervene, but before he can, Alyssa dies.
