giving care

The information slapped me in the face so that I could not ignore it.

A very basic concept, but one that is hard for our kids to grasp, is found on page 3 of the book, Created by God: Pastoral Care for All God’s People by Peggy Way. It says:

Because of the nature of our biological/chemical creation, care is a tremendous... more

Every month we have a Bible study at our church on a specific topic. This month’s topic was “Where is God when bad things happen?” As foster and adoptive parents, I think this is a topic we can all relate to.

pain and suffering

To start our discussion, our pastor gives us a question, then we all go around the room and introduce ourselves and answer the question. This is not an ongoing discussion, so the members of the group vary greatly from month to month, although there are several who are “regulars”.

church

This past Sunday, our pastors were on vacation. We had a “guest” minister. Every Thursday our church sends out an e-mail listing what is going in the church for the next week, who has been hospitalized, and anything else that may be relevant. This week we got a little bit of information on the guest minister. It said... more

Following up on the God themehttp://fost-adopt.adoptionblogs.com just does how much He come into play when we adopt?

Some give high praise and thanks for their children – others find adoption their calling in life. Many adoptive moms full out appreciate God giving them their children – knowing full well the adopted child was always meant to be hers – and should have been born to her if only it would have happened that way.

Hummm.....

A perfect fit! - God or Luck?

I’ve been thinking a lot about how my child came to be mine. Yes she was in foster care, and yes I was her foster mom, http://fost-adopt.adoptionblogs.com but did Higher Forces have anything to do with it?

How did we get matched up?

K fits into our family perfectly. She isn’t what we thought we would want in a child. First, Hubby and I sort of presumed we wanted a boy. And then, if we didn’t get a boy, we were going to teach our girl to dig in the dirt, go camping, be a bit of a tomboy.

As things turned out, we have a girly girl... more
